Rental Guide
WHY RENT?
- It's our business. We make snow, we teach you how to get on it, and we even provide the means. We have the latest and greatest technology to make you look like a pro on the slopes.
- Let us worry about the equipment--storing it, tuning it, waxing it. It's so much to keep up with on your own, but for our large fleet (in the thousands) it's all in a day's work.
- It's cost effective. Only planning on ski or ride a few times a season? Renting makes sense. Because you know, just like clothes and computers, what you buy now will be out of date in just a few seasons.
- Convenience. Our rental facility is located next to the ticket windows and the slopes for easy access. That means not having to drag equipment to and from home.
- Certified technicians by the Equipment Manufacturers. Come and let our trained staff provide you with fast, quality service.

Rental Agreements
Our rental equipment (skis, boards, boots, and bindings) is backed by the manufacturers and is intended to be used together. We do not offer partial rentals.
Old or "Toy" Equipment
If you decide to bring your own ski or snowboard equipment, it must have metal edges and proper run-away devices for safety reasons. If you are not sure if your equipment complies with current industry standards, we recommend having your equipment looked at by a trained professional. Our Ski Patrol or your favorite local ski shop would be the place to go for this. Discount department store "toy" snowboards, sleds, snow decks or snow skates or similar products of this kind are not permitted.
Season Rentals
If you plan to come often and like working with us, and are looking for a way to save money, then a season rental is for you. Just think, whenever you decide to come to Mad River this season, your equipment can be waiting for you. Season rentals are a great addition to a pass. So, make sure to add a season rental to your next Seasonal membership. A seasonal membership is required for a seasonal rental purchase.
Loss or theft of equipment is the responsibility of the renter. You assume total responsibility of the hired equipment from the moment it is received. Do not leave skis unattended in public areas for extended periods of time without locking them away. A useful loss prevention measure is to split your skis with another member of your group or use the ski check to deter theft. In the case of equipment not returned, under whatever circumstances, the renter will be charged the purchase cost of the equipment new, plus the rental cost.

HELPFUL HINTS
If you are coming for the first time, make sure you pick up your lift ticket first. Lift tickets are considered a general admission. Click here to find out more. You must have a lift ticket to have slope access and rent equipment. The ticket will also be coded with your rental information. After you receive your lift ticket, follow the signs to the Rental Facility.
Once inside the building:
Step 1. Pick out your boots. Ski boots are closer to the entrance. Snowboard boots are closer to the exit. Find a spot on the benches, and try on your size. Sizes generally match your foot in a dress shoe. You can notch up or down several sizes by adjusting the buckle. Only one pair of socks please! Otherwise the boots will not fit properly. The boots should feel tight but should not hurt your feet. Make sure you close all the buckles. Small coin lockers are available to store shoes and extra socks.
Step 2. Go to the counters to pick up your equipment. The Rental Associate will ask you some basic questions, including your ability level (1st time, beginner, intermediate, advanced), height, and weight. Please answer these honestly. Fibbing about your ability or weight can effect how your bindings are adjusted and can make the equipment harder for you to use.
Step 3. If you rented skis and would like to use poles, then move to the bins by the exit. The poles are color coded for length. Poles help move you through the lift corrals and are used for more advanced techniques. Beginners should take them based on personal choice. If you are not sure about sizing, just ask a rental technician for help.
Step 4. Exit the rental building and hit the slopes. The Yellow beginner Snow Pro Learning Center Tower is slopeside of the rental building (if you want to head over). Tip! It is much easier to walk to the slope prior to attaching your skis or board. Plus, you will look really cool with your skis or board slung over your shoulder!
* Junior pricing is for those ages 12 and under. Senior pricing is for those ages 65 and over.
